Dr. Legler has followed a long personal and professional journey devoted to helping others.
Her background is notable for graduating from Florida Atlantic University Cum Laude where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. While at Florida Atlantic, she completed an undergraduate thesis examining Event Related Potentials. Subsequently, she relocated to Chicago where she earned a Master's Degree and Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology. During her graduate training, she received advanced instruction in Clinical Health Psychology while completing a dissertation that looked at the relationship between personality factors and chronic pain. While in Chicago, she was fortunate enough to obtain employment with the world renowned Diamond Headache Inpatient Unit at St. Joseph Hospital where she assisted patients with symptom management through biofeedback. During that time, Dr. Legler also completed clinical externships at the United States Naval Hospital in Great Lakes Illinois and Lakeview Neurological Rehabilitation Hospital in Waterford, Wisconsin. She completed a formal neuropsychological internship with Neuropsychological Associates of Southwest Missouri where she rotated through regional hospitals and clinics working with patients who had suffered traumatic brain injuries, children with learning difficulties, individuals suffering with dementia, and other neurologically affected individuals. Subsequently, she completed a post-doctoral neuropsychological residency in Boca Raton, Florida.
Currently, Dr. Legler maintains a private practice in Vero Beach, Florida offering neuropsychological, educational, and psychological assessment and treatment and treatment for children, adolescent, and adult populations.
Meet Dr. Palmitier
Dr. Palmitier earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Adler Univeristy, located in Chicago. During her clinical training, Dr. Palmitier received extensive training in Clinical Health Psychology as she completed an externship at the distinguished Diamond Headache Inpatient Unit at St. Joseph Hospital and was elected vice president of the Primary Care Organization at Adler University. Dr. Palmitier assissted with biofeedback to help patients reduce pain symptoms and was particularly involved in the care of pediatric patients, implenting pediatric and caregiver support groups to address the struggles associated with chronic illness. She also provided mindfulness-based practices for patients suffering from anxiety associated with chronic pain conditions. Dr. Palmitier also completed an assessment externship at Hartgrove Hospital and advanced externships at Tolton Academy and Cook County Jail.
Dr. Palmitier completed her clinical internship at The Institute for Child and Family Health, where she provided individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, adults and families. During this time, Dr. Palmitier received specialized training in the psychological assessment of children and adolescents presenting with a range of mental health and developmental concerns. Dr. Palmitier's clinical dissertation was focused on the development of a psychological assessment measure to assess and understand long-term maintenance of healthy living. Dr. Palmitier received training in Cognitive-Behavioral-Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Play Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, and Acceptance Committment Therapy. She takes an integrative approach to treatment, which she tailors to the unique needs of each patient. Dr. Palmitier is currently completing her Post-Doctoral Fellowship under the supervision of Dr. Whitney Legler.
